- Stage I examination at the State/UT level will comprise two parts, namely
- Mental Ability Test (MAT),
- Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics.
- Stage II examination at the National level will comprise
- Mental Ability Test (MAT),
- Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics,
- Interview. Only those candidates who qualify the written examination at the National Level will be invited for interview.
There is no prescribed syllabus for the NTSE. However, the standard of items shall be conforming tothe level of Classes X. A seprate booklet called‘Learn about the Test’ containing sample items for boththe Tests — MAT and SAT is available in print as well as on the NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in.

Interview |
The interview process for selection of awardees under National Talent Search Scheme is being discontinued from the selection year 2011. The candidates will be selected on the basis of merit in the second level written examination of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and Mental Ability Test (MAT). |
