WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) or Joint Entrance Examination (JEM) is the annually held competitive examination for admission into undergraduate courses in Engineering/Technology/Medical/Dental and Pharmacy in Universities/Colleges in West Bengal and B.Arch. Course in Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur and Jabalpur University.

WBJEE is conducted by "West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board". The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed as ‘West Bengal Board of Examination for Admission to Engineering Degree Colleges’ in the year 1962, born out of a concept of holding a common admission test for the Engineering Colleges of the State of West Bengal.

The basic purpose was to select candidates to be considered for admission to the State Colleges on the basis of the results of a single competitive examination which would also lead to saving of time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at number of entrance tests. At present, (with effect from 2008-09) the Board has been functioning at AQ-13/1, Sector – V, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700 091.

At present, the Board conducts six entrance examinations as stated below :

1. JEM   

For admission to degree level Engineering & Technology courses including Dairy Technology / Pharmaceutical Technology / Agricultural Engineering, etc. as well as Medical, Dental, etc. courses in different Universities / University Departments / Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Colleges of the State of West Bengal.

2. EVET

For admission to degree level course in VETERINARY SC. & ANIMAL HUSBANDRY.

3. JECA  

For admission to Post Graduate level Master of Computer Application (MCA) course conducted in different Engineering & Technology Colleges as well as in different Universities/University Department of the State of West Bengal.

4. JELTE  

For direct admission to 2nd Year (3rd Semester Level) of 4 years degree level Engineering & Technology / Pharmacy courses of the diploma holders in Engineering & Technology / Pharmacy and B.Sc. degree holders with mathematics as one of the subjects in the graduation level.

5. JENPARH   

For admission to degree level courses of Ayurvedacharya, Homoeopathy, Unani, Nursing (H) and Physiotherapy.

6. JEHOM

For admission to degree level Hotel Management & Catering Technology courses in AICTE approved self financing Hotel Management Institutions of the State of West Bengal.
